I wanted to point out a QlikView demo application that uses this technique alongside Tufte’s sparklines. You can download and play with this application or examine the AJAX version.

QV did replicate Few’s Bullet Graph, but to do so requires much customization. While it looks pretty in a demo, it is highly impractical creating these in a real work situation. It is hard to believe QV hasn’t created this graph type by now.
